"BA11 Live" - 4th July 2021 (Frome Festival)

I am very pleased to announce that my first gig in possibly two years is going to be with a Top Drawer Jazz Band! Graham Dent (pianist) is the resident player at The Cornerhouse in Frome and his backline, Dave Wallace (bass) and Andy Brittain (drums) are just sublime! Hopefully this is now setting the standard going forward and I have finally broken into the professional scene!

It's an opportunity that originally came about after joining a tennis class at Selwood Tennis Club and casually informing one of the directors that I was a singer. I was then invited to sing at a fundraising dinner they were planning to put on and I thought it only fitting to try and pull a classy band together for it. But alas, covid19 struck and the event was postponed.

But then Frome Town Football Club asked me to pull some music together for their Annual Summer Event, which happens to fall during Frome Festival, and luckily Graham and the band were free so here we are! And I'm very much looking forward to singing some jazzed-up versions of classic soul tunes such as "Sunny" and "I Can See Clearly Now" as well as jazz and blues standards such as "Summertime" and "Why Don't You Do Right" etc. We're on at 1.30pm.

It's all been so effortless to organise everything (in the true spirit of jazz!) because we're supporting the great cause of how local football clubs build community and encourage folk to get fit and work in a team.

The mighty "Strange Folk" and the "Brue River Blues Band" will also be on bill, and there will be family fun, stalls, food and drink too! Find out more.

(under the current covid19 rules (19/06/21) we can fit 100 people into the club on a first come first serve basis)
